Useful

June 22nd, 2025

As a youth, I was coddled. The one thing I wish I knew best was to be useful.

The people who succeed most at life, and by, success I mean enact change, are people who become useful to those around them. People who become wealthy, people who build strong relationships, people who are happy -- they are the most useful.

The way to succeed anywhere is to find ways to be useful to those around you. And to do it for the right reasons.

What are people looking for? What skills are in value? How historically has this been the case? Asking sharp questions and framing the world in this way will help you in the long run.

The truth of it is, when we talk to other people, we gain or lose things when we spend our time. We feel exhausted, or we feel drained. We feel invigorated, or we feel energized. How we show up and how we treat others is how we affect the world.

Do you make other people energized or drain the energy out of them? Where does energy come from? Are you respecting your body and bringing good vibes into the fray? Are you respecting yourself, and thereby respecting the people you care about?
