Depression
September 22, 2022
You think depression is all just a bad habit? Should the depressed just... choose to look happy?
I want a second opinion on this. The general boomer consensus is that, yes, being all mopey and sad as a sad sack of shit is a bad habit.
And always complaining or moaning or groaning about the way life is the way it is is all just a horrible way to live and die. Showing gratitude and appreciating life for as it is... that's a much better way to die, right? Especially since we have so little time...
But I still feel like shit. Despite knowing all this. And I actually feel better when I complain and moan and groan.
Nowadays, I am true to how I feel, and that let's me connect with others. I'm relatable now. I'm not some hyped superego do-gooder. I'm a real human being with motivations and desires. It's so, so much less lonely. It makes me feel connected with what's happening out there.
But being so annoying to deal with, like some sort of BPD patient, that's not exactly right either is it?
There's gotta' be some grey area in choosing to listen to the id or the superego. Or for even the ego to exist at all.
How should someone conduct themselves?
I mean, what's the most important thing to keep in mind when you interact with other people?
- A.) Truth - Being yourself
- B.) Morality - Being good
- C.) Black and white answers are bullshit, and I want to rebel against this world of suffering
I choose C.
