Recipe for Humanity
September 1st, 2023
How would you create the ugliest, unhappiest, most repulsive human being on this planet?
Well for starters, I'd lock them into a room. Solitary confinement. That's for certain the first thing I'd do.
I'd close off any source of sunlight. They would never eat a single piece of meat or vegetable. I'd only feed them bland rice porridge or flour porridge. Or even worse, I'd feed them nasty food that'd make them feel so lethargic they wouldn't get up. I couldn't think of a food like that off the top of my head...
I'd give them incentive to always be laying down or bending their back over. An electronic tablet would be perfect for this to ruin their posture.
I'd never let them exercise or get stronger. Especially since they'd have no incentive.
To make them unhappy, I'd show them pictures of people their age living a good, happy life. While they wallow in self-pity and misery. They'd choke their minds with envy themselves.
I'd let them talk to other people over the internet, but only in people in the same situation as them so they'd drag each other down.
And that's how I'd make someone miserable.
Modern Day
The funniest thing is that quite frankly, a lot of people live like that. Except, switch out the rice porridge for cup ramen and a bag of chips.
I didn't realize until it was too late that I lived like that. No vegetables. Over-seasoned over-oily meat. Deep fried foods to make me feel lethargic and depressed.
And... it's normalized. That's the scariest part.
Think about it. We live in an age where nobody starves anymore. Much of the misery of the world is gone... and yet, somehow we are still miserable. Why?
Because we choose misery. We choose to indulge ourselves in sinful behaviour and normalize it.
Gluttony. Lust. Greed. Sloth. Wrath. Envy. Pride.
Go on TikTok or Instagram... and you'll find every single one of those videos has some vice associated with it.
I'm not trying to be a hard-ass, but we naturally gravitate towards this kind of content. We naturally gravitate towards this behaviour and are all the more miserable for it.
Why? Well, I think it all starts with how you would make someone miserable.
